I'm not a huge Mariah Carey fan, but don't blame her for lip synching here. It's Top of the Pops. EVERYBODY lip synched on TOTP. Literally, everybody. When Oasis were on once in the mid-1990s, Noel "sang" the song over Liam's vocals, as if to show how foolish the concept was.

she sometimes lip-synchs parts of her song. her most avid fans know that. and there's nothing wrong with that. it won't take anything away from her great career. nobody could touch mariah in her prime. she was simply best, but her voice started to decline in 1997. props to her for re-inventing herself. her longevity and staying power is a testament to her great talent.

she's not the mariah that we used to know. the great mariah carey with a vocal range of 5 octaves was already extinct more than a decade ago. the mariah that we are watching today is definitely a fake and just a pathetic clone of the 90's. the mariah we're seeing today is not the real mariah but just a fruit of our illusions, hoping she would come back. mariah carey has died 11 years ago.
