President George Bush was the most honest Prresident that we have had in decades. Don't forget that we lost nearly 3,000 lives in th 9-11 attack. What would you have wanted him to do? Try freedom of speach in Iraq under Saddam Hussain and see what would of happened!

@garyography The problem is that no one gives a rats ass about your opinions about our country you arrogant bitch. Every one has something to say about the USA, the most used country on the face of the earth by all. Try shutting the hell up and talk about your own dam country!!!!!

@shashwat986 They are unlikely to release anything new for a long time, if ever. Record labels are going to be reluctant to touch them, even with their past success. It would take a private investor willing to take a multi-million dollar risk, for the DC to have a decent shot at a come-back. And again, a REALLY good PR firm and the willingness to follow their instructions. But, as with most things... your opinion doesnt matter... nor does mine. Time will tell.

@Leonid3s I did not know about the Reba incident, and in that I may be inclined to believe you, since I have no information myself, however I do hope the whole issue gets sorted out. Not Ready to Make Nice was US Country #36, when it could easily have gone much higher on the charts, and they haven't released any new songs since 2007.

@Leonid3s I agree with you, except for #3. In the sense, I agree with the statement; I just don't feel it holds in this situation. It makes me come back to the initial point about Freedom of Speech, and that's a point I don't want to bring up, since we don't exactly disagree on it. As far as Toby Keith goes, FUTK was just a way to get back at his "Shock'n Y'all" poster, and I think it was too late for DC to lose any more fans by then.

@shashwat986 Bush's lies were not known at the time Nat made her statement. That issue is a red herring. Between the time of Nat's statement and the support for the Iraq war falling to under 50%, Nat had made matters worse with her FUTK and bashing of Reba. Bashing Reba was an excellent way to make most country fans think you are unworthy of their support. Nat would need to hire an EXCELLENT PR firm and FOLLOW their instructions to the letter, to have a hope of fixing this.

@shashwat986 1) I am very familiar with the song. Personally, I consider it one of their best pieces. 2) Had she restricted her comments to "We are against wars, including this one", she would have received much less reaction. 3) Everything we do is "our fault". Who else is to blame for our words and actions? 4) There are no "incidental" statements when entering politics.
shashwat986 (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
@Leonid3s (contd.) I can't believe anyone can be *this* judgemental over one statement. 4) What about after Bush's statements were shown to be lies? Why didn't the sales increase in 2007? Did people still want the war? Why do Country radio stations still refuse to play their songs?
shashwat986 (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
@Leonid3s Whoa! 1) The DC were introducing their song, this one incidentally; and if you were too busy writing comments, it's about a soldier who dies in 'Nam. Her statement was very natural given the song and the circumstances. 2) I agree that she should have thought about the reception back at home, but I totally disagree with you saying it's her fault. 3) Anyone with an ounce of patience should have seen that the statement was incidental and not political slander.
Leonid3s (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
@shashwat986 (continuing) Anytime ANYONE says anything of a political nature, they are "entering politics". If that person happens to be famous, their comments may well be widely reported. If that person also depends on the financial support of others who may be strongly offended by the comment, ie fans, then that person may suffer a significant decrease in revenue. EXACTLY as has happened here. This was not random reaction. It was entirely predictable.
