BBoss: The Grammy's were politically motivated. Their record sales are down. They are an entertainment group. Not a political group, or at least they didnt use to be. When they stopped being entertaining, their record sales and concert ticket sales suffered. This is not about freedom of speech, but instead about knowing your target audience and how to relate to them. In this aspect of their business, they failed. The new 'fans' they picked up did not make up for the fans they lost.

are you serious? their album sold millions (debuet at #1 on billboards charts) and was recognized by the grammys equivalent to the oscars. and after all was said and done they were right.Isnt that what america is all about.

Although as a side note: If everyone is going to forgive the DC and come around to their way of thinking, their careers will fully recover. Therefore, watching their career progress will be an acceptable barometer of public opinion on this issue, imo.

lachell: Anyway, shortly after, she/they apologized and recanted what she said. A lot of radio stations stopped playing their music and they got death threats hence the "wrote me a letter saying that I better shut up and sing or my life would be over..." Then later on, they recanted the apology and got really openly anti-war and anti-Bush. Their record sales dropped and even though they took home a bunch of Grammys for this song, they haven't managed to come back from the whole controversy.

lachell: That's how it all started...they were doing a concert in London 10 days before the Iraq war began and lead singer Natalie Maines said "Just so you know, we are ashamed that our president is from Texas (the DC's home state). They got criticism for saying that for the first time on foreign soil and plus they alienized a lot of their fans who probably had someone they knew serving in Iraq. Also it was an anti-war crowd they were playing...

Dixie Chicks: You are perfect, and you represent nearly all of the "hits" of love on this site of people that can't get enough of you. The vast majority of us love you for the Bush comment and most of the rest will include themselves soon as soon as Bush leaves office.
