Did you notice how she said "NOT AGAIN!"? Think about that. :/

It's not that this ending was sad, but more so for the fact that it's illogical. Why choose death, when you can still successfully alter the present AND exist?

I agree. The other one made more sense to me because it was wasn't necessarily Evan that was ever the problem, it was Evan/Kaylee's relationship. The theatrical ending made that quite obvious; as soon as Evan and Kaylee's relationship was reversed to non-existent, everyone's lives were just as much on track than if Evan never existed, which therefore clashes with the "Evan was never meant to exist" theme of this ending.

I agree! It IS illogical and not to mention implausible. Evan may have been trying to play God throughout the film, but seriously.. who would ever choose death, if there were other solutions that easily would have still resulted in the same outcome? This ending was so Hollywood to me. It's like they decided to kill him off just for further shock value, even though it was the one option that made the least sense for Evan.

Seriously! There were easily other solutions like the one you mentioned, or he simply could have told someone about Mr. Miller's offenses, and the creep would have been locked up away from Tommy and Kaylee. But Evan still chooses to cease to exist, because apparently that's the only solution. It's so ridiculously melodramatic.

I actually thought it was VERY Hollywoodish.

I completely agree.

Both are pretty good endings, although putting his mother through that was pretty awful. What if she had suffered complications? I think I like the other ending a bit better though, as it's not as melodramatic. I mean honestly, who would choose to cease to exist when they could just alter one event from their childhood (other ending) that would still result in the same outcome?

the good part is that it's a film, and happily you cannot reverse causality in the real world :p
