I remember seeing that too, and I thought it sounded strange, even if she hadn't particularly liked Janis' original, how could she never have even *heard* it? Had she been living on a desert island?

This cover didn't work because Faith HIll didn't *get* the song. She sang it as a dippy love song, overlooking all of the weight of the song's meaning. This isn't to say that country performers can't successfully cover rock classics. Dolly Parton's versions of "Stairway to Heaven" and Collective Soul's "Shine" were awesome because Dolly on the one hand, made the songs their own, but on the other hand, had respect for the songs she was interpreting.

Okay honestly can somebody be ever so kind and explain to me why people bitch, fight, and complain on a comment for a music video they claim not to even like? What the hell? Most of you are idiots, and obviously not professional musicians! You have no idea what talent it took to arrange, produce, and perform this song. Excellent musicians, Faith's vocal is perfection, and after all she IS COUNTRY! Exceptional steel guitar, and electric lead guitar. If Joplin had lived, she would have been NOTHING! She is only a "legend" because she died. The real legends, don't die from drug overdose, or suicide. Morrison, Cobain, and Joplin, are no-talent losers!

Do you like this version of this song? I have only heard the Janis Joplin version maybe 2 times. But Faith did this song very well too!!! I love the video it's very funny and I'm sure this happens to all of us when we meet a woman we really really like right guys?
