We must talk about this question by separating terms. Galtieri was an unresponsable, and he didn't care about Argentina; he just thought about himself. But we must take care about French marines were the first men that arrived in those islands in 1764. But then, they recoinazed that Malvinas were spanish so they gave them back to Spain. Argentina took the islands in 1820. When englishmen arrived over there in 1833, there was an argentinian goverment in Malvinas. Thanks for your comments!

The Military "Junta" washed people's brains to make them believe that Malvinas (The Falklands) were a need for our country. But the real fact is that any argentinian was never really interested in the islands until Galtieri ordered to invade them (since he thought they weren't important for the British, who may, according to Galtieri's plans, give the islands away without fighting), and after that "brainwash" everybody became, from a second to another, a "Malvinas' fan".

Part 2! What matters is now, not 1830. The Malvinas are not strategically important to GB. If the inhabitants want to be governed by Argentina, the UK would agree, but not until the inhabitants want it so. There are not many: if each one had been offered a large sum, the conflict might never have taken place. But Galtieri tackled the issue the wrong way for political ends, and if anything set the clock back. Very sad. May God bless you, and all who grieve. Un abrazo amigo. Chau.

Allow me to reply in two parts - there is not enough room! Britain has a tainted history - true - though to use the terms pirates and vampires is not fair and does not help a debate. But history does not bear out what you say. In 1833 the British reasserted their rights to the islands. Study history books other than Argentinian ones and they will bear me out.

I'm so sorry for the argentinians soldiers who died in that war. A lot of them didn't know anything about guns, bombs or war. I'm so sorry for the english soldiers who died, too. All those young men were innocents. If you want it, I can traslate to english this beautiful song and send it to you by e-mail. God bless you.

You are right in some of the things you said. That war was a great mistake of the argentinian goverment: Argentina never would win against England. But british are the worst pirates and vampires who invaded and exploted a lot of lands all over the world. Just take a History book and check it out. In 1833, the British Army invaded Malvinas Islands and killed argentinians who where living there. They only want more power, more money and they doesn´t care about another countries.

1. It is what the inhabitants of the Malvinas want, not what Argentina or Britain want. 2. Galtieri started the conflict because he was unpopular and knew that diverting attention would unite the country. 3. Thatcher, too, was unpopular, and the invasion gave her an opportunity to regain esteem. 4. UK won a conflict it did not want. The British have great respect for Argentinians and want to be friends. May all who died - on both sides - rest in peace. May God bless Britain and Argentina.
