Definitely w22d, more importantly, people need to realize Prince was there that night to be inducted into the R&R HOF and of course he's going to get the solo on his night. Prince is underrated as a guitarist imho.

I agree 4SF, and why does somebody have to be out of place anyway? One thing is clear, Tom Petty and Jeff Lynne has absolutely nothing to prove. Next to these two ikons, maybe Prince is still trying to prove something (who wouldnt) but he gets the job done OK in his "Purple Rainish" way... What do you say?!

Don't think Prince is the only one out there truly enjoying himself, check out George's son at the 4:47 mark... looks like pure joy. Great tribute to a great man.

So I am right that Prince is the the only dude excited about playing live BUT wrong to say he is 'Out Of Place' The definition of the statement 'Out Of Place' is when someone or something does not fit into its surroundings. Regardless of whether Prince was outstanding or the other performers lacklustre, Prince over cooked his solo and therefore appeared to be out of place in relation to the other artists. He is a rare talent and obviously finds it difficult to blend into the crowd.

Damn, that's a great job by Prince. But he's such a hot dog. And I mean that in the best way possible. Plus, you're right about Prince -- he is the only dude excited about playing live. So, maybe it's the OTHER guys who are "out of place."

This is one strange performance.. How many guitarist's can you get on one stage.. The whole thing was sending me to sleep, then the purple prince pops up and suddenly.. POW.. the whole thing turns into a really special show.. Until you realise Prince's performance is really out of place here. He is a one man show and with these guys, he looks awkward and obviously the only dude still excited about playing live.
